Hello Erick,

I just want to say a big MERCI.

I am just back in Paris, and before being back to the everyday life, I just take some minutes

This complete trip was great, a very good idea to be on site the night before, and be already in the atmosphere.

I was really a happy day. I have seen so many animals, even if some of them have decided to stay hidden to force me to return, that i am sure I would not have seen in an other context . And elephants were fantastics!

Thank you to have explained so many things and also to have discussed a lot, in spite of my poor english, it was very interesting. I didn't take the time to look my photo, but I hope that some of them are good.
I hope that you had a good day yesterday, and you have sold all the books.

Kind regards

Elisabeth

Be sure that if I come back, I will take the time to do this again.

Hi Erick

Both Richard and I (Debra) would like to thank-you for our day out in Nakuru. It will remain in our memories for a long time. I would like to write a testimonial or write on your wall of fame to let others know what a great time we had and how we would strongly recommend your services.
I have passed on your card to more fellow Canadians who are planning to visit kenya.

I have never been so up close and personal with so many animals before this, ( in the wild ) the experience has been most exciting along with your knowledge and expertise really made our day.

Cheers
Debra and Richard
If you make it to Canada give us a call

Hi Erick,

Thank you for so passionately hunting down and nailing all those incredible wildlife interactions and safari experiences for us yesterday! Your gifts for tracking and spotting animals is almost supernatural -- no wonder the other trackers in the park were constantly trying to follow you or ask you what you had spotted.

We were looking at our photos and just thrilled. I'll try to send the jackal puppy photos as soon as possible. You made Rich's day by asking to use one. : ) Later we'll upload our photos to a web site and send you a link in case there are any others you'd like to use.

We are packing this morning and found a khaki colored hat Rich must've accidentally taken because it looks like one of ours. We'll leave it for you at the desk at the City Lodge. Sorry about that!

Thanks truly, again for everything, Jaco!

Carey Ann

PS I don't know if you like to list testimonials from your guests on your web site. If you do, however, please feel free to use any part of this email as an endorsement on your web site -- also feel free to edit as you see fit. You can credit me as a TV producer for US documentary television (i.e. National Geographic television, TLC, PBS, Discovery Channel) if that'd be helpful to you.

Hi Erick,

I like to write thank you letters when they are deserved and following my trip with John last friday it is mostly definitely deserved! First of all thanks for organising everything at the last minute for me, it was my first time to East Africa and your website was an excellent resource, no-nonsense guide to the area. Secondly thanks for finding such an amazing guide as John is!

If you can send this on to john I would appreciate it. I was humbled by his sheer amount of knowledge on EVERYTHING in EA, I almost felt guilty, the guy was stuck with me for 18 hours and boy did I use those 18 hours to learn, not only about the intricacies of safari, the animals, the environment, but also about your country's history which is fascinating. It was so clear that John respected nature and his enthusiasm for finding the animals was infectious.

Thanks to John my 1-day Safari felt like I had experienced a week and has given me a hunger to come back to EA. Thank you!!

Sinan

Erick

I feel like it's been ages since we were in Serengeti - we've kept busy since our trip and my couch is looking quite inviting.

Just wanted to say again how much we enjoyed ourselves. The boys invoked you throughout the rest of the trip. "Erick would know"; "This would be funner if Erick were here"; "Do you think an ostrich would eat a cat?" "Which do you think is stronger?"

I am, however, disappointed to report that the prized serval pic came close, but no cigar. Clearly we are still warming up with our new camera and the focus just isn't there. Alas. Still thought you'd appreciate the almostness. I'm also tossing in a few more for good measure.

It was an absolute pleasure to spend our holidays in good company and to have seen so much in such a short amount of time.

I do hope our paths cross again. We'd love to take you to dinner next time you're hanging around London with nothing to do.

Cheers,
Steph and Rich (and the rest of the extended family)
Stephanie Sluka Brauer

Nairobi City Tour (3 Hours)

Our adventure begins from our hotel. As we tour the city, we see the most interesting elements of Nairobi – Parliament buildings, Kenyatta International Conference Center, City market and 1998 US Embassy Bomb blast site in Nairobi.

The city begun in 1899, and grew as a central point for the Kenya – Uganda Railway. Nairobi comes from the Masai word, "Enkare Nyrobi" meaning the "place of cool water".

Nairobi National Park Night Game Drives (2.5 Hours)

Nairobi National Park Night Game Drives are a more exciting way to spend a night in Nairobi. Nairobi National Park is completely different in the dark. The big cats come out to hunt and you will see animals you won't see during the day.

It’s a completely different world. Lions sleep all day and hunt in the evening, most of the cats are active just before and after sunset and this is when we take our guests on night game drives.

With a spotter and a light we look and listen for the animals, it’s an amazing experience. Animal behavior is quite different at night so observing the animals in the dark is a big part of any safari.

Karen Blixen Museum - Kenya Tours (Nairobi Excursion)

Karen Blixen Museum is located on the outskirts of Nairobi on Karen road. Its history dates back to 1914, during the First World War, with the arrival of Karen Blixen from Denmark.

At the foot of Ngong Hills, Karen Blixen established herself as a farmer. After her departure in 1931, the suburbs retained the commemorative home of Karen. The Danish government donated the house, and the surrounding land to Kenya after independence.

The house was restored by the Danish government, and was used during the filming of "Out of Africa" which immortalized Karen Blixen's book by the same name. The museum was opened to the public in 1986.

Giraffe Centre, Karen Blixen Museum & Kazuri Bead Factory

Our tour starts at the Giraffe Centre, an elevated treetop aerie where we may hand feed giraffes, quite literally face–to–face. Established by Jock and Betty Leslie-Melville in 1979 as a sanctuary for the rare Rothschild giraffe, the Centre has a feeding platform where they exchange kisses with visitors for pelleted food.

Here a resident expert also presents a private briefing on the Centre’s work to save the endangered Rothschild giraffe.

Nairobi National Park

Nairobi National Park is located in Nairobi - as a capital city, is unique in having a wildlife park on its doorstep. Indeed the city abuts the Nairobi National Park on all but the southern perimeter so it is possible to photograph a rhino, browsing peace fully among the whistling thorn with high-rise office buildings in the backdrop.

Some of the wildlife is migratory and when vegetation and water are present outside the Park, they move out into Masai land through the unfenced southern boundary.

There is also a resident population of plains game and predators so a visit at any time of the year is a rewarding experience. Well laid out, with exceptionally well-maintained roads, the Park is a model for all others, geophysical and administratively.

Of the most popular species only the elephant is an absentee. But the rest of the Big Five: leopard, lion, buffalo and rhino - as well as a multitude of other creatures are all well represented.

Day 2: Nairobi – Samburu National Reserve – Samburu Serena Lodge

This morning we travel by light aircraft to Kenya’s northern frontier. Wild and rugged, Samburu is fiercely beautiful with its arid savannahs watered by the lovely Uaso Nyiro River.

It is also one of Kenya’s most protected areas and home to species only found north of the equator, from the reticulated giraffe to Grevy’s zebras and beisa oryxes. A place of endless skies, dust-red plains and palm-fringed rivers, Samburu National Reserve lies on the fringes of the vast and arid desert once known as the Northern Frontier District, whose heat–scorched scrub lands extend all the way to the jade-green waters of Lake Turkana and beyond.

Physically dramatic, the 104 sq kilometer landscape of the Reserve features rocky battlements, craggy scarps, dry river beds and fallen boulders rising out of the thorn scrub against a backdrop of the far-distant hills and the great red table mountain known as Lololokwi.

Day 3: Samburu National Reserve – Serena Samburu Safari Lodge

Dawn breaks in golden bands as we start our day in the bush by scanning the river from our tent’s veranda with a cup of steaming coffee in hand. Before the dew is off the grass, we’re off in pursuit of the elephants, lions, leopards, and cheetahs that thrive in the reserve’s grasslands and acacia woodlands.

And so the day is spent in alternating pursuits of exploration in the bush and relaxation in our cozy Lodge.

Day 4: Samburu – Masai Mara Game Reserve – Mara Serena Safari Lodge

This morning we enplane for the Mara, winging west over the dramatic Great Rift Valley to the unspoiled savannah of the Masai Mara where magnificent events await. Here we may savour a Bush Walk with an expert naturalist guide, experiencing the world of the Mara from the ground up— an invigorating opportunity to stretch our legs and be a part of the land.

Or we may try a Hot-Air Balloon Safari. Our accommodations are equally superlative at the Mara Serena Lodge.

The Mara Serena Safari Lodge — is the ultimate safari destination. Set high on a bush-cloaked hill, embraced by arcing vistas and washed by a sea of richly rolling grasslands, it stands center-stage to one of Africa’s most dramatic wildlife arenas and has a ringside seat for the greatest wildlife show on Earth, the legendary migration of the wildebeest.

Drawing its inspiration from the traditional Masai cultural motif of a cluster of domed, mud-colored huts encircled by a “Boma” of brushwood, the Mara Serena offers a rare blend of raw African splendor and sumptuous sophistication.

The essentially ethnic décor also draws on a vibrant color-palette of sun-burst colors, embellished by a unique selection of Masai art to create the look and feel of a traditional bush encampment.

The lodge features individual rooms, each with their own balcony and view of eternity, a sky-blue swimming pool and a spectacular restaurant, overlooking a water hole where a fantasia of creatures collect to drink

Day 5 & Day 6 : Masai Mara Game Reserve – Mara Serena Safari Lodge

The search for great predators and perhaps even cubs continues today and tomorrow during extensive game runs. On the plains are enormous herds of grazing animals plus the elusive cheetah and leopard hiding amidst acacia boughs.

We also visit a Masai village and glimpse life so ancient and yet so enduring that it astonishes. The true pinnacle of our journey to the Mara however will be Bush Sundowners—a civilized cocktail party staged in the untamed wilds of Africa.

Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge – Framed against the glorious backdrop of Africa’s highest mountain, the magnificently beautiful Mount Kilimanjaro, surrounded by miles of rolling grasslands, patrolled by vast herds of elephant, shaded by the lush, feathered-green of an acacia grove and hugging the banks of a gently flowing river, this very traditional yet supremely luxurious lodge is the safari destination of a lifetime.

Predators stalk the herds of grazing animals, recreating the age-old drama of life and death under the African sun, in a setting so lushly beautiful. We return to Amboseli Serena for a steaming bath, cocktails and a sumptuous dinner. Very quickly we are ready for a deep evening slumber in the luxurious tents that enfold us like silken cocoons.

It’s famous for the Red Elephants, Oryx, and Gerenuk among other mammal’s species and bird life. Other notable features include Mzima Springs which are water source for Mombasa Town, Shetani Lava Flow and Ash cones, which is an example of recent volcanic eruption. Movie the Ghost and the Darkness was shot here.

Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge – The first lodge ever to be built in a Kenyan National Park, Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge is superbly situated in the lee of Mount Kilimanjaro, encircled by volcanic splendor, adjacent to a teeming water hole and daily visited by vast herds of elephant, buffalo and plains game.

Inspirationally positioned so that not only all the rooms but also the open-air restaurant, timbered game-viewing decks and rock-built bar enjoy uninterrupted views of the legendary snows of Kilimanjaro, the lodge also stands central to miles of lion-stalked grasslands, elephant-studded plains and wildlife–teeming bush and is ideally placed for visits to all the park’s prime attractions.
